The Vision Behind Borderlands
With its unique approach to sound, Borderlands Music is not confined to a single genre but instead embraces the in-between spaces, bending genres and colouring outside the lines. The label draws inspiration from melodic house, techno, progressive, trance, and more, blending them in ways that defy definition. Borderlands Music is about exploration and freedom—both for music producers, who aren’t bound by genre labels, and for listeners, who are encouraged to venture into uncharted sonic landscapes. Borderlands first official release is the duo’s original ‘Schmetterling’, showcasing a much darker side of the Hel:sløwed sound -fit for both trance crowds, as well as a 6 AM afterparty in one of Berlin’s underground techno clubs. And that’s exactly what Hel:sløwed is aiming for with the label.
“Our philosophy is simple: great music transcends boundaries,” says Misja Helsloot, one-half of Hel:sløwed. “We’re creating a space where creativity flows freely, undefined, where artists can push the limits of sound without being pigeonholed into one genre. It’s about offering a fresh perspective in a scene that often feels constrained by tradition”, Michael de Kooker adds.
